cory mcintyreDuring a special School Board meeting on February 23, the ISD 279 School Board selected Cory McIntyre as its preferred candidate for superintendent of Osseo Area Schools.

McIntyre is currently an associate superintendent in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. His previous experience included serving as a system-level leader in Anoka-Hennepin, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, Hudson (WI), and Rochester (MN). He was a special education coordinator in Auburn (WA) and a school psychologist in the state of Washington and in Blue Earth (MN). McIntyre earned his superintendent license from the University of Minnesota. He holds a master’s degree in education and a specialist certificate in school psychology, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology.

"Mr. McIntyre brings valuable experience in a large district, and he has the ability to step in and lead a district of our size,” said Board Chair Mike Ostaffe. “While it was challenging at times, we used a very open process that allowed for meaningful student, staff and community involvement. We now look forward to working with our new superintendent on the district’s priority work."

The board’s decision concludes an extensive selection process that involved approving a superintendent profile based on community input; hiring a professional search firm; conducting two rounds of school board interviews; and offering multiple stakeholder question and answer sessions and public presentations.

The board authorized Chair Ostaffe and Vice Chair Jessica Craig to enter into contract negotiations with McIntyre. Pending successful contract negotiations, the new superintendent will begin his new role in July 2019.
